About Jenny

Drawn. Painted. Stitched.

I'm Jenny Dunlop. I draw, paint and stitch familiar places, animals and everyday things, usually with a little bit of fun thrown in.

From Belfast to West Kirby

Almost 30 years ago I left Belfast and made a new home on the Wirral.

Art was always something I loved, but it was while I was at home bringing up my girls that drawing became a bigger part of my life again. I found time for it around family life, drawing simply because I enjoyed it and because it made me happy.

Gradually, that thing I loved doing became what I do for a living.

These days I get to spend my time drawing and painting, playing with colour, adding little pieces of Liberty fabric and, of course, plenty of stitching.

I still love creating as much as I ever did, but there is something really special about seeing my family connect with my work too. It might remind them of somewhere they love, someone special, a much loved dog, or it might simply make them smile.

So, almost 30 years after leaving Belfast, I have found my own little place on the Wirral. Surrounded by art, colour, dogs and family, doing something that makes me happy every day.

Pen, paint, Liberty fabric and stitch

Every piece starts with pen and paint. Then tiny pieces of Liberty fabric go on, and it's finished with free-machine stitching.
